Family game nights are awesome. Mattel Game On wants to bring back family game night and has launched some fantastic ways you can start celebrate family game night even if you have never played a game before! Anyone can play games. They are so much fun and there is a game for everyone.
Mattel Game On asked me to try out their new Gameology App on Facebook to see what type of games I liked and to host a game night with our family. I absolutely love family game night so I couldn’t wait to start planning. I started by trying the Gameology app on Facebook and my profile was Wittian:
Wittians are cunning players who enjoy the psychology of gameplay. Outsmarting their opponents is just as rewarding to them as outplaying them. They are wary of luck and prefer to make their own using skill and guile. Wittians are generally trustworthy friends, but it should be remembered that at the end of the day, nothing will stop them from sacrificing you if it gets them a win.
It might be right; I do really love to win! There are three other Gameology personality signs: Socialies, Activius and Stratigicorn. Which one are you?
We received an amazing selection of games in the mail. The package included everything we needed for a great game night including a party checklist, fortune cookies, napkins, bottle openers, and of course games!
Finally our game night arrived. We decorated our table with our Game On supplies, had the games ready and snacks served. We choose a lot of fun colourful snacks to match the fun Game On colours of the napkins and fortune cookies.
The girls had a lot of fun using their Game On bottle openers. They had never used bottle openers before!
Our first game was Apples to Apples. None of us had ever played it before and it was super easy to learn. We all had a lot of laughs trying to make matches and although there were a few words and events the children didn’t know it didn’t deter them from making funny matches. I’m not sure why my poor daughter thought boyfriends are useless though!
The children really liked playing Pictionary Dice. It was their favourite game, perhaps because they won every time! We played children against adults and the children were amazing at guessing the answer before there was barely a drawing done! The children also really liked the Angry Birds game. It was so easy for them to learn on their own that the adults didn’t even have to play!
My favourite game was Phase 10 Dice. I love the original Phase 10 and this was a fun alternative. I love that it’s so compact so you can take it anywhere! This game proved to be a little too much for the children because they were tired by the time we started it but in a smaller group we will try it again. It’s perfect for adults though when the children are playing their own games.
Family game night is something I fondly remember from my childhood. My favourite game nights were when we visited my grandparents at their house in the country. Many of my cousins would be there and we would stay up late into the night playing games. We played Ramoli, card games, Phase 10 and other board games. Now that I’m a mom, I’m so happy Mattel Game On reminded me of this wonderful family tradition to pass on to my children.
