We have never stayed in Fredericton before, even though I am originally from Saint John, and we love the area. When we looked for a hotel in Fredericton for our final road trip of the summer, we wanted a really nice hotel. The Delta Fredericton has a lot to offer. I hadn’t stayed at a Delta in many years as well, so I was really looking forward to this hotel. We had no trouble finding the hotel from downtown with our GPS. It is located a few minutes past downtown Fredericton on the St John River. The first thing we noticed is how beautiful the hotel and grounds are. The lobby is just as stunning with high ceilings and a lot of natural light. All around, you can see how bright, modern and clean the hotel is.
We stepped into our room, which was a good size and had two queen size beds. We really appreciate having queen beds as our children squirm a lot at night (and truthfully so do I). The decor was modern and the room was spotless. The best part of our room were the beds. The Delta Sanctuary bed is like laying down on a piece of heaven. No really, it is. We were very happy to see we had a river view. The St John River is so beautiful and the view was fantastic from our room. We could see boats going past all weekend.
As soon as we settled in, our children wanted to go swimming. It is their favourite thing to do at a hotel, so we always try and book hotels with pools in them. The Delta Fredericton has two pools however the outdoor pool is not heated and we found it was too cold to swim in, even though it was around 22 degrees outside. The indoor pool has a really interesting shape I have never seen before in a pool. The fitness room overlooks the pool and is modern with tv’s on the exercise machines.
The Delta Fredericton offers a full service restaurant, a bar and lounge and an outdoor poolside bar & grill. Children 6 and under eat free from the children’s menu. The patio has an amazing view of the St John River. The grounds are beautiful and you can walk or run downtown on riverfront trails.
On the weekend we stayed, we found the music from DJ Purdy’s Bar and Lounge could be heard outside our third floor room, until about midnight. The music stopped immediately at midnight. If you wanted to avoid the weekend late night atmosphere, I would recommend asking for a room on a higher floor, perhaps also to the right of the building.
I love that the hotel is 100% smoke free. It is really important to me that hotel rooms are clean and fresh since our family has many allergies.
