Today my daughters and I baked all day for a cookie exchange. We made 12 dozen cherry cake cookies, a recipe passed down to me from my mother. I can remember helping her at a young age and we’ve made them every Christmas since.

This recipe is very easy and perfect if you have children helping. You can make it from ingredients you already have in the house, except for the icing and cherries.

We started by mixing all the ingredients together.

Rolled the cookies and pressed them with a fork.

Iced them and added cherries for a festive look.

And packed them up in a festive tin.
