I just have to start this post off by saying right away how impressed I was with the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charlottetown. They went above and beyond in their preparation for the families staying at the hotel for the Jack Frost Children’s Festival.
When we arrived we were greeted by a very pleasant front desk clerk, who immediately gave my daughters a special children’s check in bag – even though they felt they were too “old” for the children’s special check in process. He made sure that we knew where the pool was, when breakfast started and gave us all the important information about the Jack Frost Children’s Festival.
Once we entered our room we were pleasantly surprised to see more local PEI gifts including chocolate covered potato chips, Anne of Green Gables lemonade and a signed cookbook by Chef Michael Smith! Mommy was so surprised and happy about that! Everyone in the hotel was treated to snowman cookies and milk, every night during our stay and the girls passing them out were really friendly.
Breakfast in the morning was really crowded because everyone wanted to get to the Jack Frost Festival early, but the hotel had at least 2 employees working in the breakfast room. There were a lot of choices of both hot and cold items, including pancakes and greek yoghurt. I didn’t see anything run out, that wasn’t immediately filled up. We were just about done breakfast when guess who showed up? Olaf and a minion!
In my opinion this is seriously impressive for a hotel in Charlottetown! They really wanted to make sure all the kids had a great stay at their hotel!
After spending most of the day at the festival we really wanted to get out of the cold, so we headed back to the hotel pool. The pool is salt water and the hot tub was actually hot! This really impressed me because I can’t count how many times I have gotten into a hotel hot tub and it’s been only luke warm. I love a really good hot tub – especially on a freezing cold day.
After our swim we ordered Papa John’s pizza and garlic fingers. It was yummy!
That night the hotel had a movie night in the kids activity room. We let our girls wander down with their milk and cookies and enjoy the movie, while daddy and I watched Jaws in the hotel room.
The beds were really comfortable and we had a great night’s sleep. The only thing I would like to see changed is the heat control in the room. It wasn’t easy to control and didn’t seem to shut off. We didn’t even bother asking for help with it because we were just too tired and we knew the hotel was busy. I would definitely recommend the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charlottetown to family and friends, because they have excellent customer service, clean and comfortable rooms, a nice breakfast and have an awesome hot tub!
Disclosure: I was given a discounted package at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charlottetown, however all opinions are my own.
