Beating the Winter Blues at #Fredericton’s #FROSTival!
This is it…our first time going to a winter festival! Not just any festival, but Atlantic Canada’s largest winter celebration: Fredericton’s FROSTival. There are more than 80 events over 4 weekends from January 24th to February 16th. It’s huge and includes the Shivering Songs Music Festival, WinterfestHiver’s winter kingdom, creating art with edVentures, skating parties, art gallery hops, skiing at Crabbe Mountain, the Capital Culinary Challenge and more! Read on to find out what our family is most excited for!
Our family loves being outdoors, so we’re most excited to try new outdoors experiences at the festival like the giant snow slides at WinterfestHiver. This outdoor event at the Capital Exhibition Center is only happening February 1-2nd. In addition to the giant slides there will be tubing, the SnowMazing Labyrinth, Dog Sled Rides, Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides, Pony Rides, a Petting Zoo, Snow Sculptures and much more! This just looks amazing! I can’t wait to see the dog sleds.
Another outdoor adventure we can’t wait to do is skiing and snowboarding, at Crabbe Mountain. This will be our daughter’s first introduction to skiing. I can’t wait to see their faces when they get to the top of the bunny hill! During FROSTival Crabbe Mountain will have specials on, Apres Ski entertainment, an Everest Challenge, Speed Week races and Valen-Ski on Valentines Day.
There will be plenty of night life happening throughout the festival, including the Shivering Songs Music Festival from January 23-26th. This year’s festival will include performances from: Kathleen Edwards, John K Samson, Dave Bidini, Steve Poltz, Christine Fellows, Share , Ron Sexsmith and many more. There will also be theatre performances, a battle of the bands, Mardi Gras at the market, and Fredericton’s very first fully staged local opera!
We’re looking forward to checking out the Family Fun Frostival Party, at the Kingswood Center, with local bands, cosmic bowling, games and contests!
Children will also love the FredKid Frosty Movie Days and the Campfire Sing-Alongs!
There are so many amazing events planned, I couldn’t possibly fit it all in this post, so you must go take a look at the FULL FROSTIVAL SCHEDULE. Also, take a minute to check out the Festival Accommodation Deals page. Many hotels are offering very good deals on room rates during FROSTival. Looking for a good hotel? Read my review of the Delta Fredericton!
I hope to see you there!
