I’ve got beef! I love movies and I love my 80’s cartoons. Some more than others. Jem and the Holograms was one of my absolute favourite cartoons growing, up along with She-ra.
I love it when old cartoons are made into movies…if they’re done right and stick to the traditional look and feel of the show. The trailer for the new Jem movie excited me at first when the graphics came on but then by the end of it I realized it was just another copycat hollywood coming of age story. It looks good! But it’s not JEM. It doesn’t have the look or feel of the original cartoon nor does it stick to the storyline!
Turns out I’m not the only upset fan… there are a ton of youtube videos talking about what the creators did wrong when they made the movie.
Were you a Jem and the Holograms fan? What do you think of the movie trailer? Is it truly, truly, truly outrageous?

I can barely remember Jem, but I feel like it’s hard to improve on a good thing. I remember it was awesome and I don’t want to spoil the feeling 🙂

I was totally a Jem fan back in the day… I was totally not aware of a live action movie coming out though. Truth be told… I will probably go see it. 🙂

Truthfully, I probably will too, but I’ll miss the original cartoon while I’m watching it!

I loved Jem too!! I would love to see the cartoon come to Netflix. “Showtime, Synergy!”

We have thoughts about Jem!
I love that you do, too! 😀
Yeah, it looks like a total stinker – though I was/am holding out hope for the talent involved in the movie. It will NOT be anything like the cartoon. This much is clear.
They are cashing in on the name. Bleh.
Maybe we should just demand Jem be next in line on Netflix. 😉

Jem on Netflix would be awesome!
