We were so excited to get to Ucluelet and Tofino for some much-needed rest and relaxation on our vacation. We had no idea how restful our time on the Pacific Coast would be, until we arrived at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort. This majestic resort is located in Ucluelet, overlooking the beautiful pacific ocean, and within a half hour of the Pacific Rim National Park and surfing beaches.
The resort boasts the most incredible oceanfront views. We could see them from our balcony, the hot tub, the restaurant and even the parking lot. At the Black Rock Resort, you feel like you have stepped into another world, miles away from the city, and it calms you the moment you arrive.
As soon as we started exploring our room, we knew that everything we needed was going to be taken care of. We wanted a full kitchen, so we could prepare our own picnic for the beach, and breakfast in the morning, but we couldn’t believe how well stocked it was. Not only was there real cream, in the fridge, but there were many kinds of coffee, teas, dishwashing supplies, laundry facilities with soap included, as well as a wonderful selection of amenities in the bathroom. Of course this mom’s favourite amenity was the washing machine!
In our one room suite, both the living area and bedroom had their own balconies. My husband and I loved having some privacy (finally!) and our girls were very impressed that they got to enjoy the whole living room, and big screen tv, to themselves! The pull-out couch in the living room was comfortable and a queen size bed. There room was just the right size for the four of us: with four seats at the table and a three seat couch and side chair. The Black Rock Resort also has two bedroom suites if you need more room! The bathroom featured a large soaker tub and a huge floor to ceiling shower with a stone floor. Our girls loved having baths and wearing the housecoats to the pool!
The Black Rock Resort boasts the most romantic restaurant on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Fetch. You can feast on artisan inspired west coast cuisine, sourced from local ingredients! Every seat in the restaurant has an amazing view of the ocean. If you’re feeling the need to relax even further, book an appointment for one of the many relaxing and revitalizing packages at the Drift Spa.
There are many options nearby for entertainment. We kept ourselves busy with skateboarding, surfing, walking and shopping in Tofino, and visiting the Ucluelet Aquarium. We cannot wait to return some day for a longer visit!
Disclosure: I received a discounted room rate, in exchange for this review, however, all opinions in this post are my own.

What a great idea to have laundry facilities in the hotel room! Going home with clean clothes would be awesome. Such a cool detail.

I’ve been to Ucluelet (on our way to/from Tofino) and remember it fondly. We ate dinner on a ship and everyone was really friendly. We will definitely go back some day and this time, we won’t be tenting… Hello Black Rock Resort!
