Do you enjoy the lights that people put up during the Holidays? It’s been a tradition for us to drive around, and look at the biggest light displays, every year, since I was a little girl. There was a really big display in Saint John, where I grew up, called Murphyville. It was located on the side of a steep hill and was covered in different buildings all lit up. It was beautiful and people would come for miles around to see it every year! Unfortunately, the family was not able to take care of it any more, and it came to an end in 2012.
One of my favourite streets to see the lights on every year, in Halifax, in Connaught Road. There are at least two big houses that put on an amazing display, every year, which benefits a local charity.I just love to hear my children ooh and ahh when we pass these houses. They might not believe in Santa anymore, but when they see these beautiful light displays, the magic of Christmas is very real!
There are many beautiful light displays all over the Maritimes. Do you have any favourites? I would love it if you would post a comment below with your favourite light display location! Make sure you check out the Annual Guide to Holiday Illuminations, by Taking the Kids, for amazing light displays, from locations all over the US, Canada and the Caribbean!
Young Frozen fans will love this amazing musical display from Texas!
If you’re looking to exchange old light sets for new LED sets, Efficiency Nova Scotia holds a recycling program, every year, in many locations all over Nova Scotia. Check here for dates and times in your area.

We love driving around and looking at the lights. We play bingo with the decorations, too! Lots of great ones near us, too in the Valley!

Oooh! Thing 2 loved the “Let it Go” display. We think it’s funny that Elsa is essentially a prickly cactus, though. 😉
This year I *will* get to Connaught Avenue! I think the two biggest displays are by competing brothers. The charity tie-in is amazing!
I even enjoy the tiny displays that people manage to put up on their small apartment and condo balconies. It’s just all so pretty!

Wasn’t it cute! I actually loved that they threw the cactus in there. It makes it unique. And funny!
