There is almost too much information on the internet these days for a mother to deal with. Do you know what I mean? Your child has a tummy ache and you try to search Dr. Google for some help. What do you get? A slew of serious diseases that could have a tummy ache as a symptom!
This type of information overload is killing us mothers with stress. We need a simple solution and a place where we can get straightforward answers about basic illnesses. Warts, tummy aches, and rashes can be very confusing, especially to a new mother who sees them all for the first time.
I’ll never forget how terrified I was when my newborn had her first cradle cap and diaper rash. I was sure she must be in terrible pain and had NO IDEA what to do about it. In those days we simply went to the doctor and waited for hours with really sick people or talked to family and friends.
Since then, our family has been sick what feels like a millions times, but we still have questions and uncertainty. Now I usually ask Dr. Google for suggestions, but that is not the best way of getting a simple solution to a simple illness! In fact when my daughter had terrible warts I tried everything to get rid of them. (All crazy ideas off the internet of course.) Things like duct tape, lemon juice and banana peels only made the warts worse.
I just found out that pharmacists are able to provide many services that you might otherwise go to the doctor for. There is a pretty big list on the Shoppers Drug Mart Website of conditions that their pharmacists can help with.
In addition to those services they can review your medications, renew some medications, give immunization shots and check your blood pressure. You can also input your symptoms right into the Shoppers Drug Mart Website to do some initial research.
Sometimes over-the-counter medication won’t help. But at least you can talk to someone knowledgeable and get good advice instead of letting Dr. Google worry you unnecessarily! I don’t know about you, but I think we could all use to worry a little less and spend more time enjoying our families!
