It’s the second week for my new series of family travel tips. This week is all about you parents!
#FamilyTravelFriday Tip #2
Don’t let the kids have all the fun! Don’t plan your whole trip and then realize that you’ve planned everything for the kids. Make sure you try to organize a dinner by yourselves find a roller coaster to go on, skinny dip in the pool at night (ok maybe not), eat the mickey ears ice cream, take turns switching out the kids on rides if you have to, but do something! Take risks, jump on trampolines, roast marshmallows, go on the waterside at the pool, drink the pina colada in a souvenir glass, ride that zip-line and for pete’s sake yell like a kid while you’re doing it!
Because if you don’t…then why the heck did you work your butt off and save all that money for? So your kids could have fun? (Yes, I know, you do normally do everything for the kids. Not this time!)
Don’t get me wrong. Obviously if little Sally is over tired and screaming her head off after 5 hours in the amusement park, you’re not going to go back for that one last ride on the roller coaster for daddy. But do teach your kids that they have to take turns. If mommy and daddy if going to wait for them to go on their rides, then they’re going to have to wait for mommy and daddy to do something!
Plan your trip for the whole family and enjoy it!
