The world is feeling smaller and smaller every year. More people are travelling further away from their home and taking their vacations to new levels. Adventurous families who have done it all are looking for unique trip ideas or more meaningful travel plans.
Here are five suggestions for unique spring break vacations you could take with your family. These trips would be great for teens looking for some adventure.
Machu Picchu – There’s no doubt that visiting Machu Picchu is one of the greatest trips you could ever take. Imagine how meaningful it would be if you hike it with your teens! The best time to visit Machu Picchu is from April to October. Spring Break is right at the end of the rainy season so you might get just a little wet, but it will be gorgeous and in full bloom with Orchids!
Volunteer Service Trip – What could be more meaningful than giving back and taking a working family vacation? There are many options for family volunteer service trips, however, you generally have to plan far in advance because they fill up so quickly. There are still availabilities in Habitat for Humanity, Globe Aware and Projects Abroad. Keep in mind you should do your own research on what organization has good reviews and what trip would be the most meaningful for your family.
Heli-skiing – How about a winter adventure vacation? If your family skis and you’re looking for something a little more adventurous than a black diamond trail, why not take them to the top of the mountain and try heli-skiing? Some companies you could check out are Canadian Mountain Holidays and Bella Coola in Canada and Helitrax, Sun Mountain Heli-Ski and High Mountain Heliskiing in the US.
Safari Trip – A Safari vacation is still at the top on my bucket list of family vacation ideas. What could be more magical than seeing giraffes, elephants and lions in their natural habitat or hiking up Mount Kilimanjaro? There are many companies that run safari tours all over Africa. I would highly recommend choosing a provider that is ecologically conscious and cares about the safety of the animals.
Farm Vacation – This is such a cool option, especially for a family that really loves animals. Yes, you will probably be getting your hands dirty, but it will be a lot of fun and you’ll get to have some amazing adventures too! Check out the Farm Stay US for more information on farms near you.
