Cape Canaveral is a hub of cruise ship activity, the location of the Kennedy Space Center and just down the street from one of the most famous beaches in Florida; Cocoa Beach. And right in the middle of all of this activity is a hidden oasis of family fun at the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Cape Canaveral Beach Resort. I would have never have known it was there if I didn’t search it out on the Holiday Inn website, because you can’t see the resort from the main road, but I am so glad we found it!
The resort’s main building and pool are only a short walk (or shuttle ride) from the beach and the hotel also has a more private building right on the beach. We stayed in the main building, so we could be close to the pool area, restaurants and game room, but our balcony faced the beach. We woke up to the sounds of waves crashing on the beach and then had breakfast on the patio while watching the sunrise. It was magical and our girls said it felt like we were in paradise!
There are so many things to love about the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Cape Canaveral Beach Resort. We absolutely loved the Cape Grill & Bar restaurant at this property. It was so affordable!! As a family with two teens eating adult meals, I know that food is the biggest single cost for us on any vacation. It was so refreshing to walk into a restaurant and realize that it wasn’t going to cost us $100 for dinner! In fact both our evening meals at this restaurant came closer to $65 including tax and a generous tip. We all had non-alcoholic drinks with our meal and full dinners. We did not eat dessert. Still, that’s pretty fabulous! Did I also mention that the coffee bar in the front lobby made the best espresso and smoothies in the morning?
My second most favourite thing about this property is the pool area. It was huge, gorgeous, had a lazy river, a huge hot tub, a kiddie area, a volleyball net and the bar was also right by the pool if you wanted a cold drink. We could also see almost the whole pool from our hotel room so that if our teens wanted to go for a swim alone we could feel safe watching them from our room.
When our teens got tired of swimming there was a huge game room (that also had pool tables for mom and dad) and a movie room which played movies throughout the day. Our teens were pretty much constantly entertained. They also have a HUGE indoor play room with activities for younger kids.
The resort also offers stand up paddle board, surf board, and boogie board rentals at the beach if you’re looking to play in the surf. It was a little too cold for me to venture into the ocean during this trip!
Finally, parents…I know you’ll be with me on this one: my absolute favourite thing about the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Cape Canaveral Beach Resort is the two room suite with in room laundry and kitchen. We had a huge room with a king size bed, en-suite bathroom with soaker tub and shower, and a walk-in closet! Our kids had their own room way down the hall with two queen size beds and their own bathroom. They were unbelievably excited to not have to share a room with mom and dad. It might sound crazy but I was actually excited to be able to do laundry on vacation. Plus drying bathing suits before packing them is a huge benefit.
Check out my tour of the hotel room:
The kitchen came fully stocked and we used it to make our breakfast both days we were there. The hotel’s store had eggs, bacon, bread and butter for grocery store prices so we didn’t have to go off site to get groceries.
I cannot wait to go back to this resort. Only next time, I’m staying for a week! Who could resist this view?
Disclosure: I was given a free stay and meal voucher at the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Cape Canaveral Beach Resort so that I could write this review, however all opinions in this post are my own.
